Mérida’s 1st drive-in movie theater promises lots of surprises

Cine To Go and the Forever Circus group will bring the beloved drive-in movie concept to Mérida on Friday.

It will screen high-resolution movies such as “Coco,” “Hocus Pocus” and “Aliens 2” atop the Gran Plaza mall parking area at the entrance next to Soriana.

The drive-in’s LED screen uses 4K technology and measures 7 by 3 meters.

As many as 100 cars can park and enjoy the movie, with sound delivered with both speakers and over the radio. No more than three people are allowed in each car under health protocols.

Tickets are 150 pesos in advance at tusboletos.mx or 180 at the gate.

The project took two years of planning, organizers said at a press conference led by Gary Burgos Soto of Grupo Buso.

“We are super excited because we have everything to open the first and only drive-in theater in Mérida this Friday,” said Burgos.

Live entertainment is also promised.

“We are going to have surprises, and once entering we will have all the infrastructure of Forever Circus. We have not worked in the circus facilities for two years and we are very excited to be able to entertain people again,” he said.
