Mod market planned for Chicxulub Puerto
A modern municipal market in Chicxulub Puerto will consist of five spaces under dramatic, inverted gable roofs, an architect’s rendering reveals.
The project is part of a Compranet community action plan that also encompasses an adjacent public plaza and elsewhere, a sports field, library and a waterside park.
The Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu) will select a company to carry out these projects, funded by a 500 million peso Urban Improvement Development Program budget.
The market replaces an older facility that city officials say is crowded and not well integrated with the street. It will contain 24 trading posts and be illuminated in part by a series of skylights.
The plaza, built around a central garden and to include a covered court and playground, will be built concurrently with the market.
A completion date for the markets was not set.
