Mérida, Yucatán — The Olimpo Cultural Center is closed, possibly for as long as 48 hours, after a cat knocked out power at the institution.
The outage doesn’t affect any major cultural events, but does knock out a James Bond film series for the time being. “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” (1969) was on tonight’s schedule.
City officials put up a notice this morning, citing events beyond their control. Their Facebook moderator said that operations should resume anywhere between 24 and 48 hours.
A cat was blamed for disturbing power cables, which left the Olimpo without electricity or water.
