While Yucatán is still working to reach all its medical workers ahead of anyone else, neighboring Campeche has begun to vaccinate school teachers for the coronavirus.

Campeche, the only state in Mexico under the “green” epidemiological traffic light, began its “Operation Road Runner” rollout for educators on Saturday.

The program will allow in-person classes to restart in the state.

More than 20,000 teachers are set to received the inoculation in the coming days, including 12,157 doses this weekend, local media reported.

Since Wednesday, when a second batch of vials reached the Peninsula, Campeche’s share of coronavirus vaccines have been stored in Mérida, Yucatan. Vials were being stored in deep-freeze units at the Dr. Hideyo Noguchi Regional Research Center.
