Progreso’s Biciruta is in honor of dads everywhere
Progreso, Yucatan — The port city is hosting a Biciruta, or community bike-ride, on the malecon in celebration of Father’s Day.
“A special weekend is approaching and a good way to celebrate all the dads is to offer a healthy alternative. Fortunately, we have had a good response in previous editions, and what better occasion for the Biciruta to take place than on Father’s Day,” said Manuel Rosado Heredia, head of the tourism unit.
The activity is from 7 to 10 tonight (Saturday) on the traditional malecon. The Directorate of Public Safety and Traffic will safeguard the streets. Bikes will be available for rent ear the Monument to Juan Miguel Castro.
“There is no excuse, if dad does not have a bicycle, he can rent one,” said the municipal official.
While the Biciruta concept is more closely associated with Merida’s Paseo de Montejo, Progreso in September began experimenting with hosting its own edition.
Also tonight, an “Evening by the Sea” at the Muelle de Chocolate starts at 6:30 with a fashion show and DJ Sax. Both events are free.
