Mérida, Yucatán — Oktoberfest is associated with Germany, festive music, beer and sausages, none of which presents an obstacle to a successful celebration here.
One of the main promoters of Oktoberfest 2014 Mérida, Joe Peña, told Sipse that this year’s event set a record of 6,000 attendees this past weekend.
Oktoberfest has been celebrated in Yucatán for 11 years. The venue this year was at the Centro de Espectáculos Carta Clara, with plenty of room for vendors offering traditional German pretzels, black forest cake and beer, and music by the band Gaudi Blosh, which came from Germany to be part of the celebration.
Peña attributed the success of Oktoberfest XI to the strong bond of friendship between the Yucatecan and the German communities living in this state.
