A new development agreement will bring five more Tony Roma’s restaurants to Mexico, including two on the peninsula.

Franchisee partner Desarollo De Franquicias Industriales, which operates the lone Tony Roma’s in Mérida, will develop two new locations on the Yucatán Peninsula and three additional locations in Mexico City.

“Our existing Mexican locations are very popular, and we believe these new restaurants will see great success,” said Ken Myres, president of Romacorp, which owns the Tony Roma’s brand.

Headquartered in Orlando, Fla., Tony Roma’s is the world’s largest casual-dining concept specializing in ribs. Romacorp, Inc. has more than 150 restaurant locations in more than 30 countries.

The first Tony Roma’s restaurant opened more than 40 years ago in North Miami, Fla.
