Date Set for Ricky Martin's Return to Merida

Fresh off his surprise appearance at the Super Bowl LX halftime show, Ricky Martin is heading straight to Mérida for what marks his fifth concert in the Yucatecan capital.

The 54-year-old Puerto Rican superstar will bring his “Ricky Martin Live” tour to Estadio Kukulcán on March 28, performing at the same baseball stadium where he first captivated Mérida audiences 15 years ago. The concert marks the final stop on his seven-city Mexican tour.

Martin’s recent Super Bowl appearance alongside Bad Bunny and Lady Gaga drew widespread acclaim. He performed an acoustic version of “Lo Que Le Pasó a Hawaii” during the Feb. 8 show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The 13-minute halftime performance celebrated Puerto Rican culture and featured dancers wearing traditional pava hats.

“I need several hours to process the tsunami of emotions I’m feeling,” Martin wrote on Instagram after the halftime show, sharing photos with Bad Bunny and Lady Gaga backstage.

Mérida holds special significance in Martin’s touring history. He has performed in the city at least four times since 2011, when he first played at Estadio Kukulcán. He returned to the Coliseo for his One World tour in 2016, and delivered a memorable symphonic concert at Foro GNP in September 2023 with the Camerata Metropolitana orchestra.

Perhaps his most notable Mérida performance came in 2019, when he headlined the free “Yucatán for Peace” concert on Paseo de Montejo. The event coincided with the 17th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, and Martin donated his performance to support the summit’s peace initiatives.

His 2023 symphonic show demonstrated his evolution as an artist. Accompanied by more than 50 musicians, Martin transformed his greatest hits into orchestral arrangements, creating what local reviewers described as a unique blend of passion and nostalgia.

The upcoming March concert promises a different energy. Based on performances from his current tour in cities like Puebla, fans can expect a high-production show featuring elaborate lighting, live band, choreographed dancers and both classic hits and recent material.

Martin’s setlist typically includes career-defining tracks like “Livin’ la Vida Loca,” “She Bangs,” “María,” “Vuelve,” “Pégate” and “La Copa de la Vida.” The show also incorporates newer songs, creating a journey through his three-decade career.

Tickets went on sale Oct. 2 through FunTicket. The concert joins a robust entertainment lineup for Mérida’s 2026 cultural calendar, which includes Shakira’s Feb. 24 performance and various music festivals throughout the year.

Martin’s Mexican tour schedule runs through March, with stops in Querétaro, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Chihuahua and León before concluding in Mérida. The tour follows his recent Latin Icon award at the 2025 Video Music Awards and continues his pattern of connecting with Mexican audiences through consistent touring.

The concert at Estadio Kukulcán provides an intimate setting compared to larger stadium venues. The baseball stadium has hosted major Mexican and international artists for decades, offering good sightlines and acoustics for open-air performances.

For Mérida fans who have followed Martin’s career since his Menudo days, the March concert represents another chapter in an ongoing relationship between the artist and the city. His repeated returns to Mérida reflect the strong fan base he has cultivated on the Yucatán Peninsula over 15 years of performances.

Martin has sold more than 95 million albums worldwide and earned two Grammy Awards and five Latin Grammy Awards throughout his career. He was appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2003 and continues humanitarian work through the Ricky Martin Foundation, which advocates for children’s welfare globally.
