A tech school from San Francisco is expanding its Mexico presence starting with Mérida.

Holberton School, a college alternative for budding software engineers, announced its partnership with Universidad Anáhuac Mayab to open eight new campuses in Mexico over the next two years.

Holberton’s Mérida facilities will be inside the Anáhuac campus, adjacent to the Madison international school and the Yucatán Country Club.

Mérida’s branch is planned for September, bringing to 26 the number of campuses around the world, from New Haven to Oman.

Anahuac University is one of the three best universities in Mexico, according to the QS World University Rankings 2020.

“Mexico has an incredible pool of talent, and we are thrilled to bring the Holberton School education to the many,” says Homero Sánchez, General Manager at Holberton School Mexico. ”Thanks to this partnership, Anahuac University will be able to increase their impact and train the next generation of software engineers, at scale, in Mexico.”

After Mérida, Aguascalientes is due for a Holberton School campus in January. Students from all over Mexico can also study online through Anáhuac Online.

The school closed its Bay Area campus amid the pandemic, but has since aggressively expanded in the Americas, Europe Africa and the Middle East, typically partnering with existing local institutions.

Holberton graduates have gone to work at Apple, MercadoLibre, Pinterest, Google, Rappi, and LinkedIn.
