The Yucatán Peninsula will have a new connection to the Mid-Atlantic in a matter of months.

Spirit Airlines will begin offering non-stop flights between Atlantic City International Airport and Cancún beginning Oct. 29, company officials said.

The low-cost airline will connect Mexico’s Caribbean hotspot with The World’s Playground four times a week. Spirit specializes in flights to the Caribbean and Latin America.

The tiny Atlantic City International Airport offers quick access to the Atlantic City Expressway and the Garden State Parkway. This gives travelers in Yucatán yet another budget option for reaching New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New York.

Spirit says its operation out of the Jersey Shore’s largest regional airport is 35% larger than in 2019.

The Florida-based carrier also offers service from Newark Liberty, LaGuardia in New York and Philadelphia airports. Spirit said it’s set to add 16 new Airbus A320neo planes to its fleet this year and another 21 next year.
