That movie shoot in Progreso back in 2012? The one that caused all those Ryan Gosling sightings? The movie finally has a name, “Weightless,” and there are whispers of it being released this year. Or next year.

The Terrence Malick movie had crews crisscrossing Yucatán, although the film’s love-triangle plot is centered in Texas. It stars Gosling, Michael Fassbender and Rooney Mara.

Location shots at Parque independencia and the Malecon caused an uproar in the port city, although scenes were also shot in Mérida, and Tixkokob. We won’t know which scenes made the final cut, of course, until the movie hits the big screen.

About the enigmatic director, IndieWire writes: “As always with the world of Terrence Malick, nothing is official until the movie is on the screen, so take this bit of news with a grain of salt. But perhaps, if anything, this news indicates that the director’s next film is finished.”

Progreso Hoy has a slideshow of the filming.
