Taxi drivers urged to install tracking device into their cars
Mérida, Yucatán — The state Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) encouraged taxi drivers to register their units with the Public Vehicle Registry (Repuve) and get a decal with a security chip that will allow authorities to track their vehicles if stolen.
Carlos Martín Pacheco Medina, executive secretary of the state Public Security System, attended a meeting with representatives of Meritaxi, Surty, FUTV, Econotaxi, Taxímetros and Taxi Plus to explain the benefits of the Repuve.
The official said this program is a national priority.
He also stated that the Repuve decal is for private and public vehicles. The process is free and fast.
