The Centro Histórico cleanup, by the numbers

Remember that campaign to clean up of the Centro Histórico? The city has reported the following results after one month: 

  • Municipal utility crews have scraped up 29,680 pieces of gum.
  • The gum came from 17.1 kilometers of sidewalks on calles 54, 58, 60 and 62, north to south from 47 to 69.
  • 3,486 square meters of sidewalks surrounding the Plaza Grande were power washed.
  • 1,080 square meters of sidewalk on Calle 62 from 61 to 59 were also power washed.
  • Fresh paint was applied to the Plaza Grande (twice) and Parque San Juan (once).
  • 200 examples of graffiti were erased along calles 58, 60 and 62 from 47 to 69; on 56 from 47 to 51, on 58 from 47 to 53; and on 61 from 63 and 65 of 68 to 54.
  • 2,259 stickers that were moved on calles 58, 60 and 62. 
  • 2.4 million pesos has been set aside for this project.
