Themed tours to begin at Museo Mundo Maya

Mérida, Yucatán — Tours at the city’s most grand museum will be focused into various themes for a week.

From March 26 to April 1, 2018, the Gran Museo del Mundo Maya will present its permanent collection from different angles: “Mayan Prophecies,” “The Peninsular Costume” and “The Haciendas of Yucatan” are among the Recorridos Temáticos (Themed Tours).

The new tours, with a duration between 30 minutes and 1 hour, are designed to explain the wealth of the Peninsular Mayans of today and yesterday.

“Water in Nature and Civilizations,” “The Government of Felipe Carrillo Puerto,” and “The Aesthetics of the Maya” are other themes suitable for the whole family.

One tour is especially for children. For “Policromía Maya,” which explains where the Mayas obtained colors for art and attire, and their meaning according to the deities that were part of their worldview.
