The spectacle of light and sound in the Uxmal archeological site resumed Tuesday nearly five weeks after equipment damage halted the nightly shows.
A lightning strike and a collapsed beam had damaged equipment in the control booth that operates the show.
Tickets can be purchased at the box office of the tourist center of Uxmal for 50-78 pesos. Admission is free for children up to age 12 and for those with credentials from the National Institute of Older Persons.
Queen Elizabeth II famously visited Uxmal in 1975 for the inauguration of the light and sound show. When the presentation reached the point where the sound system played the prayer to Chaac, the Maya rain god, a sudden and unexpected torrential downpour occurred. Incidentally, this happened in February, dry season in Yucatán.
