Villahermosa, Tabasco — Art Charles hit a run-scoring single in the eighth inning and Dustin Crenshaw had an impressive debut on the mound Tuesday, leading the Leones de Yucatan to a 7-2 win over the Olmecas de Tabasco.

The single by Charles, part of a four-run inning, gave the Leones a 2-1 lead before Sebastian Valle hit a three-run double later in the inning.

California-born Crenshaw, who replaces Yeison Asencio, pitched six full innings to allow only four hits, striking out five.

But it was Enrique Burgos (1-0) who got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while Jesus Garcia (5-3) took the loss in the series opener.

The Leones will seek to secure the series 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) when they send pitcher Jose Samayoa (4-3, 3.81 ERA) to face Dennis O’Grandy (1-1, 3.77 ERA). The game will be broadcast live on Sipse TV and La Comadre 98.5.
