The Visual Arts Center opened in 2004 in what was the old elementary school Andres Quintana Roo to accommodate the National Biennial 2nd Visual Arts Yucatán, with help from the Ministry of Education.
Since they have been shown numerous group and solo exhibitions but always careful to show the best of contemporary artistic production.
The CAV has become an important cultural center. The CAV houses the lithography workshop, for artists who want to venture into this field, while it supports and promotes the work of Yucatecan artists, including children and young people of Mérida and municipalities.
Since its inception, there have been events in conjunction with the Department of Music Sedeculta and Schools of Visual Arts and Music ESAY, presenting concerts, lectures, talks and multidisciplinary events.
