West of the main square, on Calle 62, the Palacio Municipal was built during the government of Don Santiago Aguirre (1734-1736). Over the years this building has been modified for various reasons. Its clock tower was constructed in 1928.
From the second floor, see the city council’s meeting hall or view the Plaza Grande from the balcony.
The building is not to be confused with the Palacio de Gobierno (state government building), north of the square, which is known for its murals.
