Ultimate Vocho Fest 2025: Mexico Celebrates the Beloved Volkswagen Beetle
Volkswagen dealerships across Mexico are preparing to celebrate Vocho Fest 2025 on June 22, marking World Beetle Day with a nationwide tribute to one of the country’s most iconic automobiles.
The automotive company’s official portal announced that this national celebration honors the vehicle that has shaped generations since its mass production began in Germany in 1939. Mexico joined the Beetle’s story in 1967 when local manufacturing began, creating a deep connection between the country and the beloved VW Vocho.

Throughout Mexico, official Volkswagen accounts have been sharing countdown announcements for the event. The festivities will feature showrooms and caravans designed for Beetle enthusiasts, complemented by refreshments, prizes and music.

In Mérida, VW City Altabrisa and Club Cero Oxido are joining in with an 8 a.m. caravan from their showroom to the Anamaya Zoo.
The celebration has sparked nostalgic conversations on social media, with fans sharing hopes for the car’s potential return. These dreams have been fueled by electric Beetle prototypes that have circulated online in recent years, though their transition from concept to reality remains uncertain.
Volkswagen has encouraged enthusiasts of the escarabajo (yet another word for beetle) to follow their nearest dealership’s social media channels for updates on joining the Vocho Fest in the coming weeks.
The Beetle’s Mexican Legacy
The Volkswagen Beetle’s significance in Mexico extends beyond transportation. Originally conceived in Germany as the “people’s car,” the Beetle / Vocho found a particularly warm reception in Mexico due to various factors, including its affordability and practicality.
The vehicle’s impact on the Mexican economy has been substantial, with the establishment of a Volkswagen factory in Puebla that continues operations today, providing employment and contributing to the local automotive industry. This manufacturing presence helped cement the Beetle’s place not just on Mexican roads, but in the country’s industrial and cultural landscape.
The Vocho Fest 2025 represents more than a car celebration—it acknowledges the enduring relationship between Mexico and a vehicle that became deeply woven into the nation’s daily life and collective memory.
