Wendy Braga Finds Her Place in New Sitcom Cast
Mérida-born actress Wendy Braga says landing a role in the comedy series “Riquísimos… por cierto” checked off a professional wish list item she had carried for years: working with producer Elías Solorio.
The show, a spin-off of the long-running sitcom “Vecinos,” follows the López Pérez family after they inherit a fortune from an eccentric uncle named Fidel. To keep the money, they must meet a list of unusual conditions tied to the show’s premise, a setup that drives much of the humor. Braga plays Leopoldina, the housekeeper at the mansion the family inherits.
“I always, for many years, wanted to work with producer Elías Solorio. He is, you could say, a guarantee of success,” Braga told Diario de Yucatán. She said earlier attempts to collaborate with Solorio on other projects had fallen through, which made the eventual invitation feel especially meaningful.
“When the invitation came to join this cast, it felt like a dream come true, because I love the kind of comedy he does, I like the way he works, and he has a great team,” she said.
Keeping the household staff employed is one of the conditions tied to the inheritance, so Leopoldina, the butler Cástulo and the cook Gumara become central to the plot. Braga’s character also finds herself drawn to Germán, a new addition to the mansion’s staff played by Eduardo España. “Leopoldina’s heart races. I’m still not sure why, but there’s something about Germán that attracts her, that she’s passionate about,” Braga said. The pull creates friction for Leopoldina, who must choose between loyalty to her longtime coworkers and welcoming Germán into the household, a tension that fuels several storylines.
Braga, who has also appeared in “Nosotros los guapos” and “Una familia de diez,” said this production stands out because she joined from the beginning rather than stepping into an already underway series. “I’m very grateful for the chance to start from zero, and for being considered to help write a new chapter of comedy on Mexican television in this new stage of 2026,” she said.
The actress, who has a 4-year-old son, said the show appeals across generations. “My son is 4, and he laughs at things adults don’t,” she said, adding that keeping the humor accessible and free of vulgarity is a priority for the production. “The ultimate goal will always be for the audience to enjoy themselves, to laugh and to forget, even just for a little while, whatever they might be going through,” she said.
Braga, who grew up in Mérida and opened her own dance school there as a young woman, sent a message to Diario de Yucatán readers, recalling years of coverage the newspaper gave her recitals and festivals. She said she hopes to return to Yucatán soon as part of a conference tour aimed at women, and invited fans to follow her on social media for updates.
Braga joins another Yucatecan actor who has built a career far from home, proof that Yucatán-born talent continues to find its way onto bigger stages and screens.
