Yucatán COVID cases begin slight decline

The official number of coronavirus infections in Yucatán has been on the decline since Thursday while deaths have been at two a day since the middle of last week.

A 26-year-old man from Seyé and an 89-year-old woman from Mérida perished. Both had preexisting conditions.

This data from the Yucatán health ministry is missing information from private hospitals, people who tested with home kits, or people who haven’t been tested at all. But the numbers are gathered from a large enough sample to indicate an overall trend.

Doctors tracked 545 new COVID cases on Saturday, down from 594 seven days earlier. Home quarantines dropped to 4,966, a 20% dip.

Current patients on the health ministry’s radar range in age from 1 month to 107 years.
