Yucatán COVID cases down 78% in the last month

The week ended with 17% fewer coronavirus cases than the week before, Yucatán health department data indicates. And cases are down 78% over this time last month, when infections had just begun to decline.

A daily average of 46.8 cases and 5.1 fatalities was reported. Hospitalizations and quarantines also declined precipitously. On Monday, 77 patients were in public hospitals with COVID-19, but on Sunday that total was down to 58. Quarantines were down by over 100, landing at 543.

In the last 24 hours, four men in Yucatán died from COVID-19. Two resided in Mérida, one was from Tixkokob and the other was from Tizimín. Since the pandemic arrived, 6,364 people have perished in this state of roughly 2 million people.

Of the 76,660 confirmed accumulated cases, 90% have survived, doctors said.
