The Federal Attorney’s Office for Consumer Defense (Profeco) shut down two gas stations in Muna for dispensing incomplete liters of gas, officials said.

The federal agency reported that a sanction was applied in July to the Pemex station operating under the name “Servicio Yucatanense S.A de R.L. de C.V. ” on Calle 26.

Inspectors immobilized a pump that delivered 19 liters of gas when charging for 20, said Profeco.

Another Pemex station, operating as Elsa Antonia Lara Canul, on a downtown block of Calle 26, was caught doing the same and had its faulty pumps locked up.

Profeco reported that all the gas stations they inspected cooperated with their officials.

Through June, Profeco immobilized 10 gas stations in Yucatan this year for shorting customers, both in the capital city and in the countryside. The agency did not say whether the stations were fined, or how the issue would be resolved. No response has been issued from Pemex.

Sisely Burgos Cano, chief of Yucatan’s Profeco office, said that the action is part of the agency’s fight against corruption.
