The birth of a zebra was registered last week at the Animaya Park Zoo in Ciudad Caucel. On delivery, it weighed about 30 kilograms, and the newborn’s sex is yet to be ascertained.
This is the first offspring of that species in the park.
The baby zebra was born in good health the night of Friday, July 10, in the meadow, unlike the giraffe birth in May of this year, when it was necessary to for caretakers to watch closely.
Animaya chief Iber Rodríguez Castillo said that zebra parents are very attentive to the baby. The official explained zebras are often born in captivity.
With the blessed event, the park now has four zebras in residence.
