A Canadian man was found dead this morning inside a Mérida rental property on Calle 47 near La Plancha.

The man, identified only as Jerry G, was 80. His body was found by his landlord who showed up at the house to collect rent. 

Earlier: Woman demands justice after being violently attacked by a police officer

Upon arriving and knocking at the door several times, the landlord let himself in and discovered the body. 

The landlord also noted that the man had likely passed a few days ago and had already begun to show signs of decomposition.

Police were still at the scene Wednesday afternoon and had yet to make any statements regarding the cause of death.
