Golf tourney faces down Yucatan Country Club’s ‘Jaguar’

Mérida, Yucatán — With a field of over 80 players, this weekend’s Southeast Association of Golf tour faces the challenging El Jaguar course at the Yucatan Country Club.

This par-72 Jack Nicklaus course stretching 7,282 yards opened in 2008 and quickly become one of Mexico’s “must-play” venues, according to the PGA.

In March, toward the end of the season, the tour will reach the Club de Golf’s La Ceiba course.

Caamal Jorge Burgos, president of the State Golf Association, said 15 area players finished in the top 10 in their national division.

Yucatecan competitors have excelled in national events, according to Sipse, two winning medals in the National Olympiad: Caamal Isabella Solis,,took silver, and Brictson Andrés de la Cruz, won the bronze.
