A pair of concerts will show the range of 4 talented artists visiting from Canada

Four Canadian artists will offer a cleverly contrasting pair of concerts in two different venues next week.

The first show, a lighthearted collection of show tunes and bouncy beats, is “De Canadá con Amor (“From Canada with Love.”) The followup on Thursday is more dramatic and operatic. It’s called “De Canadá con Amor, y Dolor, y Muerte” (“From Canada with Love, and Pain, and Death.”)

It will demonstrate the range of four talented young performers who have come many miles to benefit Fundacion BAI and the EdúcaTE Yucatán association, two organizations that benefit young people with HIV-awareness/sex ed programs and educational outreach, respectively.

The Tuesday, May 15 show is 8 p.m. at Hacienda Santa Cruz. It is an intimate recital, since the space is limited to 80 people.

The program includes examples of bolero, zarzuela, and show tunes from Broadway’s golden age.

The artists are singers Adam Brousseau, Anne-Marie Macintosh and Daevyd Pepper, and conductor/pianist Kimberly-Ann Bartezak.

The donation for this first concert is 350 pesos.

In the larger Teatro Libertad, the second presentation is 8 p.m. Thursday, May 17. That is where the mood shifts dramatically to arias, duets and opera trios.

The donation is 350 pesos, and 150 for students. For tickets call 999-292-8436.
