Soap actor, 45, dies in Mérida after COVID battle

TV actor Rodrigo Mejía, who starred in soap operas such as “Cuidado con el Ángel,” “Mundo de Fieras” and “Una Maid en Manhattan,” died in Mérida after losing a battle with COVID. He was 45 and left behind a wife and two children.

His father previously died from the coronavirus, local media reported.

Although at first his cause of death was not disclosed, later the family elaborated that he had contracted the virus in January.

The actor had moved to Mérida and his wife Gaby Crassus left her job at TV Azteca to “follow the love of her life,” said Flor Rubio, a family friend, on a morning program.
