An electronic music party held in a jungle quickly halted when police arrived and confiscated the band’s musical equipment.
Nearly 500 people were at the event near Tulum.
The event organizer was arrested and taken into custody, accused of knowingly violating the states COVID-19 protocols.
Quintana Roo Gov. Carlos Joaquín González recently announced that the state would be changing its epidemiological alert status from orange to the lower risk yellow.
However, state authorities were quick to point out that this did not mean that large-scale gatherings and parties could be held once again.
“We are all glad that cases seem to be trending downwards, but this does not mean that we can pretend COVID-19 is no longer a danger. If cases start to increase again we will have to go back to orange or even red, and nobody wants that,” said an official Quintana Roo state communique.
