A French-style mansion reminiscent of Versailles is on the market in Mérida for just over 50 million pesos — or around US$3 million.
The mansion features several gold-leafed rooms with crystal chandeliers and includes over-the-top furnishings imported from Europe, including four post-mahogany beds and wardrobes.
The home’s exteriors are just as impressive and were crafted by contractors flown in from several locations to work along with local masons.
Best of all, the home boasts nine bathrooms — more than enough for any family.
If three million bucks sounds relatively expensive for such a property, part of the justification for the price may be its location.

The estate is not some historic 19th-century landmark on the mansion-lined Paseo de Montejo or even Avenida Colón, but rather a contemporary creation in Dzityá, in Mérida’s far north — though the date of its construction has not been listed.
Photos of the mansion began circulating on social media after it went on the market on several websites and on Facebook marketplace.
Nothing is known publicly about the mansion’s owners, but the fact that it is so luxurious and in such a far-flung location has led folks on social media to come up with all sorts of theories.
A common theory floating around is that the mansion was built for a big-time crime boss, while others joke that it would be a good idea to check thoroughly for a “bat cave.”
