Big buses for thirsty travelers bring back cantina tours
Food tourism is back, including Turibus‘ restaurant and cantina tours in Mérida this weekend.
To give the program a push, they are starting with three consecutive dates — Nov. 11, 12, and 13 — and, later, they will continue every Saturday starting at Paseo 60.
Depending on the tour, visitors stop at three restaurants or three cantinas.
For two years, tour operators have faced challenges due to the coronavirus pandemic, said Eduardo Córdova Balbuena, peninsular regional manager of Mobility ADO. However, “now we are reaping the fruits of long-term efforts.”
These tours had begun before the pandemic, along with other doomed food-themed ventures, before being shut down.
But today, concepts like #turitacos in Mexico City appear to have taken off with gusto.
