Food & Travel readers send trophies to Ku’uk, Xixim

Mexico City — When the Food & Travel awards were handed out last week, many of them went to Yucatán.

Food & Travel magazine’s readers, “the true travelers and foodies,” named Ku’uk the best restaurant in the country’s interior. The award previously went to another Mérida restaurant, Rosas y Xocolate.

The ceremony, by the way, was partly catered by Roberto Solís, the chef/owner of another Mérida restaurant, Néctar.

And while the city of Puebla took the prize for Best Gourmet Destination, which was Mérida’s honor two years in a row, Yucatán state was voted top destination overall for travelers.

The Best Ecological Hotel in Mexico was Xixim Unique Mayan Hotel outside Celestún, an award the resort last won two years ago.

The winning beach hotel was across the Peninsula on the Riviera Maya, the Grand Velas.

For the fourth edition of the awards ceremony, the Live Aqua Urban Resort Hotel in Mexico City was dressed up to receive the nominees of the Food and Travel Reader Awards 2017.
