Ground broken for villas-style psychiatric complex in San José Tecoh II

Construction began Wednesday on a modern villa-style complex that will provide supervised housing for thousands of psychiatric patients.
Work on the Villas de Transición del Hospital Psiquiátrico Yucatán began with a ceremonial ground-breaking in San José Tecoh II, presided over by Gov. Rolando Zapata Bello.
With an investment of more than 146 million pesos, the complex will provide comprehensive care through psychological and psychiatric rehabilitation and brief hospitalizations.
“With actions like this, Yucatán has been preparing to respond, both to the demands of our local population, as well as to national and international needs, which we can satisfy with the highest standards of service,” said Zapata Bello.
The complex will have a positive impact on the lives of 96,000 potential visitors in a pleasant environment, surrounded by multiple green areas.
Located in the south of the city, a few meters from the Hospitales Materno Infantil and the Amistad Corea-México hospital, it includes 10 outpatient cubicles, hospital rooms for 120 patients, and 10 short-stay villas, each with three bedrooms and a bathroom.
The governor lists this project among his administration’s top goals. Other priorities include liberating La Plancha for a park, modernizing the historic train station, creating the National School of Higher Education and restoring the Sierra Papacal-Chuburna highway.
