Mérida, Yucatán — Your flight can wait. Take a moment to take in some soulful portraits by a Centro artist.
Argentine painter Juan Pablo Bavio presented a 12-piece exhibition “Arrugas del Alma,” or “Wrinkles of the Soul,” which will be exhibited for a month at the gallery on the ground floor of the International Airport of Mérida.
The works capture realistic shadows and light on canvas, with grim faces in earthy colors, which the artist managed to capture with great feeling, Mileneo Novedades noted today.
A reception this morning was hosted by the airport’s regional director, Héctor Navarrete Muñoz, of Asur Group.
Juan Pablo Bavio has been based in Mérida since 2002. The artist has had solo and group exhibitions since 2000 in cities such as Leon, Guanajuato, Cancun and Campeche, and his works are in private collections around the world.
