Mérida, Yucatán — A high-society wedding on Saturday briefly dominated the Centro while onlookers took photographs and asked each other, “who’s getting married?”

Nupitials between Eugenio Fernández Garza-Lagüera and Andrea Ayala Roche in the ancient Church of the Third Order on Calle 60 at 59, was quite a pageant.

Guests pulled up in white limos and approached the church as if arriving on a red carpet. The women wore expensive-looking gowns and the men looked comfortable in untucked white guayaberas, traditional wedding attire in Yucatán.
