Mérida is on top of Vogue’s list of 2022 best travel destinations

The Casas Gemelas, or Twin Mansions, of Merida.

Vogue Magazine had eight places to recommend for travelers in 2022. Guess which destination was on top of their list.

Mérida, Yucatán is somehow still “under the radar,” says the article while quoting Laura Motta of Lonely Planet, “despite its proximity to incredible Mayan ruins and neon-blue cenotes.”

The blurb celebrates Mérida’s culinary range, from “perfectly fried street-cart churros” to “haute takes on traditional dishes.”

The endorsement comes just weeks after Mérida hosted a national tourism expo meant to put Yucatán top of mind among travel influencers.

The Caribbean island of Grenada, Easter Island — which is scheduled to reopen in February — and Dracula’s own Transylvania are also on the list.

Antarctica, Napa Valley and the Okavango Delta in Botswana are also on the list followed by an obscure little French city called Paris, where a new Cheval Blanc hotel opened recently.

The list went online Friday.
