Mérida, Yucatán — Nearly 100 city employees have been installing Christmas decorations along the streets and in public spaces, and two Christmas trees will be illuminated this weekend.
No new decorations were acquired for this year’s displays, but the city’s current stockpile of artificial snowmen, Santa Claus figures, sleds, pines and nativities were restored and repaired for 750,000 pesos.
Two 20-meter-tall Christmas trees have been installed, each with more then 600 multicolored LED lights. One is on the Remate of the Paseo de Montejo, and the other is at La Visita park in Fracc. Juan Pablo II.
Ceremonial tree lightings will take place this weekend.
