Mexico City will replace its aging, overtaxed airport with a new one, quadrupling capacity to 120 passengers annually, President Enrique Peña Nieto announced yesterday. Built on federal land adjacent to the current airport, it will cost an estimated $9.2 billion US.
Calling it “Mexico’s gateway to the world,” Peña Nieto said it will be Mexico’s largest public infrastructure project in recent years.
