A cruise ship headed to the Yucatán Peninsula stopped to rescue 17 people stranded on a raft north of Cuba. Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison took to Facebook and Instagram Saturday to share scenes of the encounter on social media.

“We just stopped for this boat with 16 people in the middle of the ocean. Waiting for coast guard now,” Harrison said in one post.

Carnival Cruise Line spokeswoman Jennifer de la Cruz said the Carnival Sensation found the migrants, 15 men and one woman, about 50 miles north of Cuba and brought them aboard.

Coast Guard Petty Officer Jon-Paul Rios said they would be turned over today to Mexican immigration officials at the ship’s next stop, Cozumel. The ship is in the midst of a “Legends of Pittsburgh” fan cruise that returns to Miami on Tuesday.
