Among the 157 people killed an Ethiopian Airlines crash is a woman from Yucatan who worked as a UN interpreter.

Graziella de Louis Ponce’s death was confirmed by family members mourning on social media.

Louis Ponce was traveling to Nairobi to participate in a global environmental workshop. She was the only Mexican citizen on board the plane.

A cousin named Pepe Ponce wrote on Facebook that Graziella was “a person of extraordinary talent,” fluent in 11 languages, “which gave her a unique position as an official translator for the UN.”

She was the daughter of Graziella Ponce Rubio, and granddaughter of Graziella Rubio Ibarra de Ponce and Jose Maria Ponce G. Canton.

She was a cousin of the families of Regil Ponce, Capetillo Ponce and Ponce Laviada.

This is the second such crash associated with the Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, which several airlines are now grounding for inspection.

The same model of plane crashed in Indonesia in October, killing all 189 people on board. Like the Ethiopian Airlines crash on Sunday, the Max 8 demonstrated erratic speed in the few minutes it was in the air.
