Yucatán open-air markets gear up for a new season as a 3rd Slow Food debuts

Natural Thangs is ready for a new season, with its Farmers Market opening 9 a.m.-noon every Monday between Oct. 2 and April 29. Over 25 local food vendors set up in and around an events salon off the highway between Chelem and Chuburná. Crafts and apparel are sold in the same location at its Artisan Market every Thursday starting Oct. 12.
In Mérida, a third Slow Food location starts next week. The Cholul Slow Food Market will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at the Comiseria Municipal in front of the park.

The original Tierra Mérida Slow Food Market is open 9 a.m.-1 p.m. every Saturday at Plaza Colón, García Ginerés. It stays open all year but will be getting busier as the snowbirds return. Free copies of Yucatán Magazine are available throughout the market and at the Yucatan Homes & Lots office.

Closer to the northern neighborhoods, Slow Food Mérida Norte features produce and locally sourced foods 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. each Saturday at the Parque Pista Roja by Mercado Cero Basura next to the Gran Plaza mall.
