The new South Korean docuseries being filmed in Yucatán has finished rolling after almost two weeks of intense shoots.

The main theme of the docuseries is the importance of corn to people in Yucatán both in contemporary and ancient times, as well as Mexico’s most famous gastronomic creation, the taco

During their time in Yucatán, the six-person film crew rolled in several locations including Mérida, Izamal, Yaxunah, Hoctún, and Chichén Itzá

Yucatán Magazine Editor Carlos Rosado van der Gracht accompanied the film crew, was interviewed during several segments and offered logistical and production support.

“Filming in Chichén Itzá was a dream come true. Both my father and grandfather have worked at the site for decades, and to be there with the crew, at a place that is so important to me was very special,” said Rosado van der Gracht.

Carlos Rosado van der Gracht has also recently collaborated as a consultant for a number of productions including Discovery Channel.

Also featured in the docuseries is Yucatán Magazine’s marketing director, Yesica Benitez, who appeared in traditional Yucatecan wardrobe and Day of the Dead makeup along with Adan Tonaituh Solis Estrada during several hours of shooting in Hoctún’s cemetery.

“It was such an interesting experience to work on this project. I never thought I would be involved with something like this,” said Benitez, who also assisted Rosado van der Gracht behind the scenes with logistical support.

The last season of the docuseries in question was shown in 20 markets, most of which were in Asia. However, there are hopes that the series will soon be making its way to a number of new markets.

The docuseries could be released as early as late summer or early fall.
