Fans return to the stands and witness dominant pitching exhibition

Leaones starting pitcher Yoanner Negrín allowed two hits through his five innings

Fans who returned to Kukulcán Alamo Park witnessed a pitching exhibition through nine innings resulting in a scoreless game until the top of the ninth.

The Cuban star, Yoanner Negrín, dominated the plate allowing just two hits during his five-inning stretch. Then relievers David Gutiérrez, Arnold León, Enrique Burgos and Josh Lueke each took a turn at the mound.

At the top of the ninth, the Tigres de Quintana Roo hitter Wilson Lizárraga came to the plate with bases loaded to hit a line drive past the Leones third baseman, easily getting extra bases while three Tigres crossed the plate. That brought the score to 0-3 Tigres when the Leones took the plate in the bottom of the ninth.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Leones advanced a runner to third but a strikeout from Humberto Sosa resulted in the third and final out of the game.

The preseason will end Wednesday with an exhibition game at 7:15 p.m. against the Tigres de Quintana Roo, and prior to the first pitch, the Leones will present their starting roster for the 2021 season. Tickets are available from $30 pesos at superboletos.com
