Mérida fashion designer Marcelo López continues to evoke fantasy and glamour in his Spring/Summer 2024 collection.

His runway show last week, at newly opened Marcelo Chic atelier facilities in García Ginerés, unfolded before 150 guests. Collections for both men and women featured saturated reds, purples and teals, flamboyant fabrics, and extravagant silhouettes that accentuate shoulders, hips, and busts.

One flight above, the Marcelo Chic atelier was open, complete with both sewing stations for employees and a fridge stocked with champagne for clients. All work is bespoke, and the workroom has been busy since opening last year.

No dour models here. Like last year’s event, the show concluded with a sweeping gesture of romance as two models smiled broadly and waltzed grandly around the stage to ballroom music. The audience’s pleasure was almost palpable.
