The Palacio Cantón was the residence of a former military general and state governor, built in 1911. It houses the Regional Museum of Anthropology of Yucatan with both rotating and permanent exhibits, but visitors come to see the Porfiriato elegance as much as they enjoy the pre-Columbian artifacts.
The museum is open daily except Mondays, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.. Entry is 48 pesos, and free on Sundays for Mexican nationals.
